About Our Founder

Frank Lyons began working for his family’s construction business. They built custom homes in the northeast. Working in the family business, Frank learned at a very young age, the value of doing it right the first time. Planning was the key. Being prepared for the project to come out in such a way that it exceeded the customer’s expectations.

He went on to work for Sears Home Improvements in the early eighties. There he won many awards for outstanding performance. Frank learned that taking care of the customer was the key to success. Sears, at the time, had a warranty which said the projects will be done to the customer’s satisfaction or they would not have to pay for the job. Taking this to heart, he empowered his staff to make the decisions necessary to take care of the customer. He and his team won the SQI (Sears Quality Index) Award at the National level in 1993. This was the highest customer service award the company offered. It says that Frank’s leadership guided his team to outperform any businesses under the Sears brand (stores, Tire Centers Allstate and others).

Frank left Sears to start a residential coatings company. This company grew from the east coast to the west coast. This multi-million dollar company provided exterior coatings for homes across the country. With multiple offices and two Call Centers, this company completed hundreds’s of jobs per year.

In 2000, Frank sold his interest in this business and started a construction company. This too became a multi-million dollar business. This company specialized in southwest style “Casitas” and room additions. Upon the job start, the customers were given an Outlook calendar that listed every detail of the project and when they would be completed. It also let the customer know the final completion date of the project. This was innovative and was a key driver of both the project and the ultimate satisfaction for the customers. The success of this business like most, relied on the quality of the people on staff.

In 2008 when the housing market crashed, Frank was considering closing the business. He was contacted by a former senior leader from Sears who was then working at The Home Depot. An agreement was made whereby Frank joined THD. While at THD, Frank consistently outperformed his peers. With 26 markets across the US, Frank again won the highest customer satisfaction award like he did at Sears. Frank’s business operated at class leading metrics while the business grew from 8 million to over 22 Million during his tenure. The key to his success; passion for his team and his customers.
